In short, NO on exemptions, YES on SB 572.
🚸SB 572 will directly impact RURAL areas and allow us (our counties and cities) have an oversight on privately managed housing facilities specifically intended for illegal and unaccompanied minors. We already know our borders are compromised, but what’s worse is what’s happening to these kids. When they go into a group like Catholic charities, the govt has no way of keeping tabs on the kids. As a result, they’re auctioned off to the highest bidder/sponsor.
It’s a sad thing indeed when we must keep such a watchful eye on NGO’s but here, we are:
🚸 SB 572 by Senator Kolkhorst is a simple, regulatory change that would establish a way for rural counties and cities (US!) to directly contract with private facilities and be responsible for their location while they provide detention housing for children - yes - unaccompanied minors.
🚨 For the purposes of emergency services, these shelters should be required to meet and follow certain criteria - especially when dealing with the placement and temporary housing of children.
✨This bill is incredibly simple and so needed!
It will receive a vote in the House tomorrow.
🚨HOWEVER, certain NGOs are looking for religious exemptions in order to continue funneling children through their systems instead of allowing accountability.
🚨In order for emergency services (often the volunteers!) to be effective in rural areas, charitable orgs (Red Cross/Catholic Charities/etc.) need to be included in playing by the rules.
This bill will allow rural districts to effectively oversee the presence of our temporary unaccompanied minors, and ensure that they’re accounted for in our emergency services for as long as it’s necessary
Please be sure to call YOUR House Representative and firmly request they vote NO on any amendment that may be brought to exempt religious organizations and YES to SB 572.
Thank YOU!
